Materials of strong spin-orbit coupling that coupled with conventional superconductors via proximity effect host interesting new physics such as p-
wave superconductivity and Majorana fermions. 1,2 Herein, we have successfully established the heterostructure of PbSe and s-wave superconductor Pb using molecular beam epitaxy. PbSb is a semiconducting material in its bulk form but it has shown a metallic behavior without energy gap when grown in a thin film form. Using scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM/STS), we have investigated the magnetic response of this proximity-induced superconductivity of PbSb. The competition between superconductivity and Kondo screening is also observed.
